Luc Lallemand holds a Merchant Navy deck officer diploma, a commercial engineering diploma and a postgraduate degree in foreign exchange and international finance. After starting his career in 1988 as a deck officer, he joined the Belgian National Railway Company (SNCB) in 1991 as treasurer. In 1995, he left the company to join the Belgian government to carry out various missions to reform the transport sector (rail, air, inland waterway and maritime) and to improve public finances. After seven years, he became financial director and member of the Management Committee of SNCB. Following the split of the SNCB in 2004, he became General Manager and Chairman of the Management Committee of Infrabel (the Belgium) railway infrastructure manager. A former director of Réseau Ferré de France (RFF), Luc Lallemand is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vinçotte Group and President of the EIM (European Rail Infrastructure Managers).
